Whale watching is seasonal. Every year between June and November, the whales visit the Southern African coast to mate and calve. They spend the summer months in Antartica feasting on krill.
Near to Cape Town, we are lucky to have two great viewing areas. False Bay near Simons Town is the closest and will allow you to visit the Cape of Good Hope on the same day.
Walker Bay at Hermanus is further afield but the drive passes through the Kogelberg World Heritage site. This region is the centre of the richest floral kingdom in the world.
The Southern Right whales are the star of the show but you will able see Brydes and Humpback whales. It is recommended to take a boat trip to get within 50 metes of these amazing creatures.
