Trip Itinerary

Breakfast and Safety Briefing
Your shark dive meeting point is at our office in central Mossel Bay, near the harbour. Meeting times are usually between 7am, and 10am, depending mostly on the weather and tides. You will be given the exact times by our office the day before the tour. Step into our office an hour before the boat launch time to enjoy coffee and breakfast while listening to the dive and safety briefing. After this, we take a short walk to the harbour. The boat launches for the 2km ride to the shark hotspot, Seal Island. As Mossel Bay has the most accessible white sharks globally, the ride is only 10 minutes.
The Boat and Crew
The vessel is manned by the Skipper and Dive Master, a tour guide, a shark handler and a videographer. The boat is equipped with sufficient diving equipment to accommodate all our guests on their cage dive and the dive master ensures that everyone is safe and comfortable with the experience. The boat is also equipped with all the necessary safety gear as well as a life-boat large enough to accommodate all the guests should it become necessary. Snacks including chips, fruit, bread rolls and water are available for the duration of the trip.
The Dive
After anchoring, the crew will start chumming and put the cage in the water when the first shark arrives. The cage does not go underwater completely and is tied directly next to the boat. When you are in the cage, your head sticks out above the water with the boat directly behind you. All the equipment needed to cage dive is included and ready for you on the boat. We have wetsuits of all sizes, and no scuba qualification is necessary. Children from 12 years old can join in the cage diving fun. If you decide to take the plunge and cage dive, you will get roughly 20 minutes on your first time in. You will almost certainly have a second chance to get in the cage.
Return to Shore
After about 2 to 3 hours on the sea, we return to shore for afternoon tea and a light lunch. You also get a certificate (official bragging rights) of your day with the great white sharks.

Incredible experience. Booked last minute and they were great, even helped us out with towels as we didn’t have any with us. We went out in the morning and it did take a while for the sharks to show up, they are wild animals though and don’t work to our timescales! Once they arrived the staff were great at making sure everyone had a good view and cage time. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and informative when asked questions. Tip for improvement would be to share that knowledge un-probed whilst waiting for the sharks, appreciate that’s difficult when they are working on baiting the sharks! Overall great trip

What a trip, the crew are fantastic and do all they can to charm and attract the sharks. We saw 4 different sharks and one was about 3.5 metres! Best time of year for shark viewing is winter but still worth while during summer. I will definitely be back in winter to use these guys again.
